My background

My name is Kuan-Hsuan Shen, but I prefer to go by Kevin. I am currently a Computer Science Master’s student at Georgia Institute of Technology. Previously, I earned my Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Ohio State University and my undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering at National Taiwan University.

My passion and experience

I am passionate about building web applications and am experienced in full-stack development through various projects. I have extensive experience in SPA and client side rendering applications. My most proud project is SkyOffice, a browser-based virtual office with proximity chat and video conferencing functions. This project went on Github Trending and was featured on HackerNews. SkyOffice has attracted hundreds of weekly visitors, won 1st place in a competition, and received over $1000 donations from the users.

In another project - Jaunty Jalopies, I led 4 other developers and built a full-stack CRUD application using React for user-specific interface and ExpressJS for REST APIs for database queries and user authentication in 3 months.

I have also worked on the CopolymerGenome project, a machine learning prediction platform that performs online inference with trained machine learning models using Python APIs with Flask. This platform is used by researchers to predict materials properties for materials science research.

In addition, I have done computer simulation and data-driven research and have built a suite of Python packages (PMD and PSP) to automate data generation and analysis. My Python packages have accumulated over 10k downloads and led to a total of 9 peer-reviewed publications.
